Ook op de YWAM-basis in Windhoek is het zichtbaar: studenten die afhaken en medewerkers die terugvallen. Gabriel en Nicol vonden dat dit moest worden aangepakt, omdat het zoveel andere mooie opbouw onderuit haalde.It shows up at the YWAM base in Windhoek too: students dropping out and staff members relapsing. Gabriel and Nicol felt this had to be tackled, because it was pulling down so much of the good that was being built.
Gabriel Nghuuyepa is Namibiër. Hij groeide op in de cultuur waarin Tunga werkt. Hij spreekt de taal van de wijk, hij weet wat er gebeurt als een zoon of dochter afglijdt, en hoe schaamte in een Namibisch gezin daarin een rol speelt. Deuren die voor een buitenstaander dicht blijven, gaan voor hem open: scholen, kerken, families, de mensen die er echt over gaan.Gabriel Nghuuyepa is Namibian. He grew up in the culture Tunga works in. He speaks the language of the neighbourhood, he knows what happens when a son or daughter slides away, and how shame in a Namibian family plays into that. Doors that stay closed to an outsider open for him: schools, churches, families, the people who actually decide.
Nicol Nghuuyepa-van Winssen is Nederlandse. Zij bracht de vakkennis mee: in 2013 haalde zij haar master Klinische Psychologie, en ze is bijna geregistreerd als psycholoog bij de Namibische Health Council. Daarnaast houdt zij de lijn met Nederland warm. Zij weet hoe wij hier praten over hulpverlening, hoe je verantwoording aflegt over geld, en waarom een Nederlandse gever wil weten wat er met zijn gift is gebeurd.Nicol Nghuuyepa-van Winssen is Dutch. Ook het woonprogramma begint klein: één groep, veel evalueren, bijsturen waar het nodig is. What this first group teaches us shapes how the programme grows from there.
Een eigen plek waar mensen een jaar kunnen wonen, met therapie, geloofsopbouw en een vak. Daarna nazorg en zelfhulpgroepen, zodat mensen het volhouden.
