Ook op de YWAM-basis in Windhoek is het zichtbaar: studenten die uitvallen, medewerkers die terugvallen, gezinnen die vastlopen. Nicol werkt toe naar registratie als psycholoog bij de Namibische Health Council. Gabriel kent de weg naar scholen, kerken en wijken. Bij Tunga hoeft niemand te kiezen tussen geloof en vakkennis: die twee horen bij elkaar.Nicol is working towards registration as a psychologist with the Namibian Health Council. Gabriel knows the way into schools, churches and communities. At Tunga nobody has to choose between faith and professional skill: the two belong together.

Small and close by, so that someone is helped today.
Na elk kamp, elke training en elk traject kijken we wat aansloeg en wat niet. Wat werkt breiden we uit, de rest passen we aan. Zo sluit het werk steeds beter aan bij wat er echt nodig is.After every camp, training and counselling track we look at what landed and what did not. What works we expand, the rest we adjust. That way the work keeps getting closer to what is actually needed.
Met counselingscholen op de basis leiden we Namibische medewerkers op in verslavingszorg. Meer opgeleide mensen betekent meer mensen die geholpen kunnen worden.Through counselling schools at the base we train Namibian staff in addiction care. More trained people means more people who can be helped.
Het counselingcentrum en Tunga zelf worden geregistreerde Namibische organisaties, met een eigen bestuur. De zorg voldoet daarmee aan professionele eisen, en het werk staat in Namibische handen.The counselling centre and Tunga itself become registered Namibian organisations, with their own board. The care then meets professional standards, and the work sits in Namibian hands.
Ook het woonprogramma begint klein: één groep, veel evalueren, bijsturen waar het nodig is. Wat deze eerste groep ons leert, bepaalt hoe het programma verder groeit.The live-in programme starts small too: one group, plenty of evaluation, adjusting where needed. What this first group teaches us shapes how the programme grows from there.
Een eigen plek waar mensen een jaar kunnen wonen, met therapie, geloofsopbouw en een vak. Daarna nazorg en zelfhulpgroepen, zodat mensen het volhouden. Daar bouwen we naartoe.A place of our own where people can live for a year, with therapy, faith and a trade. Followed by aftercare and support groups, so that people can hold on. That is what we are building towards.
